Hi All,
My daughter purchased a new XR6 two month's ago with the five speed auto.During the last week,each time she moves the selector from park to reverse or into drive the car moves and makes noises like the transmission is under load,which it isn't.
The dealer said it need's a new transmission and they assured her that they have never had any trouble with these five speed auto's before.Does anyone here know of any issues with these auto's.
The dealer is quite ok about all of this,they are not being hard to get on with or anything,so far.
I just found the repair process a bit different to what I am accustomed too.They will need the car for three to four day's,while the transmission is removed and photographed.The pic's are then sent to Ford where they are examined,and then they wait for approval.More like a second hand car warranty than a new one.

While the 5 speed is out and heading for the tip anyway ask them for the 6 speed box as compensation. Dealer better be giving the daughter a loner car while they have her car.
