Evening all, i feel so dirty posting in the ford forum but i need your help.

Im looking at a BW conversion and id like to know the standard widths of the falcon models that came with the live axle, if theres something close to what i need, ill get rims with the correct offset to make it fit.

Thanks!

OK XR-XY are roughly 1500mm wide between wheel mounting flanges. XA right up to EL are 1550. AU-BF (wagon, ute and some AU sedans don't run IRS) I believe is 1600mm but BCB would be able to confirm as his Transit has an AU rear.

VN Commo's are 1550 wi

It's OK greenhj, the dirty feeling will fade. Won't be the first time some Ford stuff has made its way into one of the Generals cars and wont be the last. Wish I had a dollar for every nine inch and top loader that made its way into a Holden.

I see nothing wrong with putting more reliable parts from another brand in or under your car.

We Ford persons should start to fit GTS steering wheels to our Fords yes.

I was going to fit a Commodore V6 and 4 speed auto into my Capri simply beca

Oh and another tip Green HJ. VN's use the same uni joints as most 6 cylinder and 302 powered Falcons up to EB. The VN t700 auto tailshaft yoke will fit into any Holden Trimatic, Aussie 4 speed or 3 speed all synchro box.

This way you may get away wi

I agree with Jim, there is nothing wrong with mix and match parts. Ive got a HK GTS wheel on my Marquis, reason why, i reckon apart from some of the mustang wheels all ford steering wheels are ugly as..

thanks gents, fwiw i have a trusty 9" in my car, and a set of el fans that fit a hj radiator quite nicely, use the right parts that do the job, and the ford bits are it for the HJ lol.

Now, knowing nothing about the smaller diffs (9" is to big and heav

If you don't want a 9 inch then a 28 spline 4 pinion Borg Warner/BTR is more desirable ie stronger than the run of the mill 2 pinion 25 spline items.

The 28 spline diffs can be found under 351 powered XD/XE Falcons and their variants, VL V8 (3.08:1)

I have a narrowed XB 25 spline BW under my Capri but had to fit it with XD-XF axles as the XA-XC axles get thinner between the spline and the wheel flange so they cannot be re splined after shortening.

I figure that Ford considered the 25 spline item

Me think the 3.27 ratio has more teeth then the 3.23 and that is why ford put 3.27 in the Ute's. as they must be a stronger combo.

Yes the 3.27 possibly is stronger than the 3.27 but Ford were putting 3.23's in their commercial range when they were putting 3.27 in their passenger range.

Maybe they had excess stock of 3.23's to get rid of.
