Through the course of the year we will be looking to overhaul the fastlane.com.au forums. The Snitz 2000 system has served us well over the years, but as a number of you have pointed out is staring to show its age particularly in comparison to more modern forum systems.
I have opened this thread to keep you all informed with the progress of the update and to also hear what you would like added to the new forum system.

Please feel free to comment here.

Note; This will be a slow and technical process with a number of steps to consider including moderator input.

Good idea Dave

Don't use the same format as the gmh-torana site as it won't allow any attachment of links or pictures or even copy and past of text using a Windows 8.1 system.

Well its been a long time coming, but the new Fastlane forum is up and running. We still have some behind the scenes tidy up work to do, though for the most part things seem to be running well. I'd like to thank all that helped with suggestions and feedback.

Hi David, thanks for your time and efforts here mate its appreciated.

One question, why cant we have a normal sized avatar instead of just 50x80 pixels (80x50 not allowed)
Its so tiny that no detail is visible at all.

Also I tried to add a photo to my photo album but it dosent allow any uploads and gives me this popup.
Access to the path 'C:\inetpub\RSP Sites\YAF\YetAnotherForum.NET\Uploads\1450.4.20140830_205159.jpg.yafalbum' is denied.

Thanks
Wayne

Hi Wayne, I believe we sorted out the issue of photo uploads today. With regard to the avatars I'll come back to you. We also fixed an issue with URLs in emails of subscribed topics that your post revealed.

Cheers,

David

Well that was easy! I just changed the params for the avatar size to a maximum of 100 x 100. See how this goes.

Cheers,

David

What is the go of the miniature font when looking on an iPhone??just about over having to expand the page to see some of the writing.
It's a dogs breakfast. You can't tell easily when new posts are made and it sends you to page one on multiple page threads.

Sorry, missed your post. 150 x 150 has been set. We are also looking into what we can do for the font size on mobile devices.

Cheers,

David

Hi Guys, The new format looks great & works well, except for 1 item.

On the old forum you could tell which posts you've read & which posts you hadn't. Unless I've missed something I can't seem to do that now.

Regards Dr Terry
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

I agree with the doc, it was by far quicker finding your unread posts by the highlighted digit. AL

Hey it seems you're right, the unread posts are meant to be highlighted red however it doesn't appear to be working, I will have a look into why that is when I get some time

Can you extend the limit on photos please, I'm already deleting images in my folders to make space for new ones.
Why is there a number limit on photos anyway?

It still sends you to page one on multiple page threads even though you have read all the other pages before. Gets a bit frustrating. Can this be fixed?
Other than that it works ok. Would be better if people were able to easily add pictures. So many threads but never a picture to go with them.
