Could the A be (built Adelaide) P (assembled Perth). Don't have a clue regards the 307P.

It is assembled at Mosman Park Perth. It will have an Elizabeth (Adelaide) chassis number and body tag, just a Mosman Park VIN tag. The P means it was assembled at Perth. I find it hard to believe that it was originally a 307 though as I was under the impression Mosman Park never assembled V8 HK's. If it was the engine number will be something like 30790xxx.

ok thanks for getting back to me, his uncle bought the car new,in perth..engine is now gone but you can see the heat shield for the petrol tank , speedo cable hole under wiper motor, some of the v8 powerglide linkages still there,it is a ute and has a weight tag on front passenger side rad support/bonnet lock down panel for the cwt..still has long bolt banjo diff housing in it. 307 badges on guards etc.firewall no. is 43924a with a p under that, he is trying to find the old rego papers for it now, so I,ll see how we go..i didn't know they assembled cars in perth, you learn something new everyday ,thanks again..

Mosman Park were assigned HK V8 engine numbers from 90000. If there were any produced there wouldn't be many. Wouldn't be surprised that if this one was real it'd be 30790000 or 30790001.

Chevrolet engine numbers were allocated to each pant. Brisbane 00001 to 09999, Sydney 10000 to 39999, Melbourne 40000 to 739999, Adelaide 74000 to 89999, Perth 90000 to 99999.

So what he has is the first 307 allocated to the Perth plant.

This is not a Monaro engine for two reasons. The first is it will have been fitted to a car in January being the first engine and the Monaro did not come out until July. The second is the Perth plant did not complete Monaro or Brougham vehicles.
