Could any one help me out. I am just about to buy my old car back ( vc hdt 166 ) and it never had hdt build tags when i owned it and the new owner never had them fitted. Now the guy is in a rush to sell it and he wants a good deal off money but i want to make sure every thing is legit. Could any help help me out. He wants to sell it quickly and i dont have enough time to get it to hdt. Thanks heaps.

VCs never had the HDT build tag fitted from new, but you could get it retro-fitted.
You need to get the numbers off the GMH plates & ring HDT with them to confirm its ID. Their phone number is 02 9792 1911.

From "the bible" VC # 166 should be white, and it's body number should end in 949M on the painted body pate (the one that lists model, engine, axle etc) and on the thin tag right at the front, the last 4 characters will be 949C
