.....

G'day all,

Problem............

Sons HQ Prem has a 9 month old idler arm ( Wasp brand ) that has excessive movement ( after only 9 months mainly weekend use).

I just received a new Wasp brand idler arm from an evilbay seller and it also has excessive movement.

If I had the time to set up a dial indicator I would, but in lieu of that, I'd estimate the movement of the new idler arm that I've just received ( held in a vice WITHOUT arm fitted ) at about 2 mm.

Not happy with that, about the same movement as the one I just took off and probably around the same movement as the original Holden one which has probably served all 41 years of the HQ's life ( you'd expect some movement after 41 years , not after 9 months though ).

From memory, when Holden used to sell these over their parts counters, the new OEM ones were machined to a fairly tight tolerance and had hardly any measureable movement in them ( far less than 2 mm movement anyway ).

To the subject matter..........

Can anyone tell me where to buy and/or what brand to look for so I can find a quality OEM spec manufactured idler arm from?

Pedders ?........... Repco ?.............

Ideas?........ constructive advice anybody ?

Cheers in advance for any help ThumpUp
