I have seen that car Benny. Power windows in a HK Kingswood is very rare to find these days. I think it would be very unlikely because of this option that it would of been a police car but you never know.

HK was the first year of power windows and the only Kingswood badge Holden to have them (Latter HQ GTS sedan were not badged Kingswood)

That being the case I would doubt very much that the Police would have ordered them. What you have to ask is "why would the Police order them, and why did they not seem to order them in latter models?" The HK power windows were considered too powerful so that maybe why they never ordered this option again.

Do the HK power windows have 4 or 5 buttons on the driver's door, if 5 they may have ordered them for transporting people and stopping them from winding down the windows.

What state? The Victorian ones are almost fully documented up until the mid 1980s.

yes I thought that as well, if you had wind down windows the back seat passengers might have been able to wind them down and do a runner..if you had power windows you could turn of the rear ones so only the people in front could use them..there was another person who commented that there father had an ex cop car and it also had elec windows, but who knows, if I end up with the car, maybe I can chase up the old rego and check that way, I was just trying to find out if it was or not a ex cop car as I would pay a bit more for it if it was..funny how it hasnt got a radio, but has so many other options, thanks for your input, benny

HK/HT/HG power windows didn't have the rear door isolation switch that the Commodores had. Actually I don't think the HQ/HJ/HX/HZ had one either.

One could easily be fitted of course, maybe the police workshop did this ?

Also the early HK power windows were very fast. So much so that the gearing was altered in production & the later HK & HT/HG ones were slowed to a more acceptable pace.

Warren, I believe ALL HK/HT/HG/HQ/HJ/HX/HZ driver's door power window switches had 4 buttons. not 5.

Hi Terry,

Yes was not 100% sure as Monaro did not come with power windows until HQ and I knew they had 4 button.

As for doing a runner from back, they could unlock and go, no child lock on rear in those days.

Just weird for a Police car to have power windows. Especially when you consider how many Police cars there were, you would have to see more of them.

I have never seen a power window Kingswood in the flesh, but seen one in a magazine.

I've only ever seen the remains of one, 307 auto sedan. I still have its throttle, kickdown and crossover linkages. It was green trim from memory, but was like 1990 so a long time ago.

We have an HK Kingwood sedan in our car club which has the most unusual group of options I've seen on an early Holden.

It's painted Pinaroo Beige over Woodsman Green & has a 186 Powerglide, power steering, power windows & power DRUM brakes. The rest is as stock as a rock. Rubber floors, bench seats, no radio, no heater, etc, etc.

When you look at some of the dealer tender lists some of the QA and durability cars have an odd mix of options. Perhaps this is what some of these wierdo cars are?

There was a Hk-ht Monaro next door in early 90's red 307 power glide ordered new by a man who had an accident and ended up in a wheelchair all those years ago and ordered it power windows /steer and a/c but not sure if it was dealer fit or factory fit I never paid much attention to the hk-tg monaros cousin had a proper ht350 manual but only had a 308t400 in it when he had it( spoke to a local and he knew where original eng was)a nice car but not standard and I knocked it back for $12k and the one undercover next door was also on offer and all original but I wanted a Hq coupe:( still havnt got one.... I can try and find out a bit more next time I speak to them.
