17xx is 186S 4spd. 186S manual or auto (can't recall which) is 12xx. We think the next two are consistent with earlier codes. The 3rd probably the diff ratio and LSD eg 8 is 3.55 and LSD but could also a gearbox & diff combo. Edited by user Monday, 14 March 2016 11:41:15 AM(UTC)

....the 17xx and 12xx makes sense when the 186S came with a 3 speed manual or 2 speed auto, as well as the 4 speed option.

 so i found a box at the farm it had bits and pieces in it it had two of these can some one tell if they are the original one for this car cheers?
