I have just found a mate of mine a windowless hk panelvan, have been looking for a while now and finally found one with a descent body to restore, it has inca gold paint code 10064 and has 10x trim code, I couldn't believe it when I looked up the paint as it had been painted over in white many years ago, but you can see a bit of gold here and there when inner back panels removed..it is an Adelaide built body but assembled in melb. has any one else ever heard of this combo on a van or know any thing about the history of this car or how rare it would be, thanks in advance benny..

Officially metallic on a HK Belmont was not available but still possible. I saw a Silver Mink HK ute a year or so ago, also not officially available. |

yes very strange combo especially with the 10x trim I thought only the Monaro had 10x, but I am no expert..

Certainly sounds like a special order, maybe for someone important.
10X trim in a Belmont van with metallic paint !! An insider with a crystal ball, designing the ancestor to a Sandman, perhaps.
One of my lists mentions Inca Gold Metallic as being a fleet colour, I wonder what fleet that was.

I cant believe it, have just pulled the 202 and 4 speed out and discovered its a factory v8 going by the speedo hole under the wiper motor..this van just keeps getting better and better..thanks benny..

Can you get me ID details off the car? Is it Dandenong assembly (ie J in the VIN and an M after the Adelaide chassis number)? If so it will be a GMH internal car, and will have had probably Monaro seats in it. I assume it is a 2 seater?
Having the V8 speedo cable hole doesn't guarantee it is a V8 - it may have been a 6cyl with M22. So does it have Saginaw pressings or was it a column auto (more likely)? |

the van is being restored at the panel beaters, were it is being stripped back to a bare shell at the moment..is not much to look at as it was resprayed white many years ago and that was what we thought was the factory color until we started pulling apart and saw gold paint here and there and looked up the codes and discovered it was something special.has speedo hole under wiper motor and rear heat shield,as well as long bolt banjo diff,i am just waiting on panel beater to send through id and firewall numbers and to check if it has centre seat brackets for bucket seats,will put up build numbers as soon as I get them, thanks benny..

Are you sure on that? The only 6cyl's that I knew of in HK with the long bolt nodular centre banjos were those optioned with 3.08:1 ratio and those used a V8 yoke. |

Hi yes i would change the small yoke to v8 big yoke.. not a lot of wreckers did known about it, got then cheap..in the 1990s got the last one 4 years from scrap metal yard and it was a 6cly auto HK van but 3.36 to 1. tony Edited by user Tuesday, 7 June 2016 8:59:38 PM(UTC)

So they were the Borg Warner nodular long bolt centres with 3.36:1 gears? I thought only 2.78 or 3.08 gears fitted into them? |

There is two different banjo centres though. The traditional banjo which dates back from EJ or whenever and only takes 3.36, 3.55 or 3.90 hemisphere and gears. This is the one with the short bolts. For HK GMH had Borg Warner build them the 2.78 with nodular housing, LSD centre and 2.78:1 gears. The 3.08 was built using the same housing and hemi but 3.08 gears - it was built for the 253. GMH supposedly began building this themselves at some stage and then a normal non-LSD hemi became available. These 2.78 and 3.08 units were the long bolt centres. As far as I knew there were no 6cyl 2.78 or 3.08 banjo centres in HK - they were all V8 ones, and those 6cyl 4spd HK's that got a 3.08 used a V8 centre with a special tailshaft. |

Hi ok This one was 3.36 to 1 open small uni. 2 long bolts . van was a 186 2 sp auto pd van was beige in color, Tony...

Hi ... only ever seen 3.08 & 2.78 Banjo with long bolts .... but why did they have long bolts ? Mark. |
