wanting the convenience of intermittent wipers in the hk but don`t want a dwell switch hanging off the dash.i have read that a switch from a zh fairlaine can be modified to fit without too much drama,i think i have that side of it covered.

has anyone done this & could give me a run down on the wiring side of it ?

cheers

When you say you do not want the dwell switch hanging off the dash, do you mean the variable resistor?

I have installed one that we mounted the variable resistor in the dash and put a standard knob on it, another we just left the slotted knob from the original unit coming through a hole in the dash with all the mounts in behind the dash.

Yes I have used those.

We just drilled a hole the same size as the outer plate and poked the knob through, the "lip" stops it from coming out. In an HK you could mount the hole thing flush behind the fascia and drill a hole in fascia for knob to come through.

I have used this in all my cars and am about to fit one into my HK, can let you know the wiring when I do it, I have the ZH switch in my xy and all my fairlanes, you need to weld/panel glue a piece of steel with a smaller hole onto the dash frame for the mounting of the switch and you need the plug end and about 6" of wiring off the ZH loom, you need to get another active and from cig lighter or similar, and then join, I will work it all out

The HJ unit is also different again as it has the washer squirt function on the knob also, so you could wire that in if you are using a motor under the washer bottle. That will allow you to operate the wipers on intermittent and wash without starting the wipers on low speed.

Cool, so a Hj wiper dwell unit has the washer set up also, this is interesting I might use this idea for an ek then as the control box would only need to be added to the original wiring wouldn't it ? and this could be put where the choke was , food for thought thanks for the info and ideas fellas another peice used off the Hj stato wreck I paid too much for....

HJ wiper switch is on the dash, see here:

http://www.gumtree.com.a...wiper-switch/1111054850

When dwell controlled optioned the square washer push button is replaced with a round knob and it also is a push button for washers.

See the fourth picture here (my brother's HJ LS) just under the right vent

The fellow that made them died a couple of years ago and I do not know what happened to his stock. He did offer me all the unfinished ones about 5 years ago but what would I do with them?
