Prices have been sneaking up lately, but in my opinion $200k is top dollar, and that would be for a near perfect car. Scrutinise what you are buying very carefully, or get someone who knows to do it for you.
If you are serious about it, I'd contact Holden Historical Services and see if the firewall number, engine number, and tag numbers line up correctly.
Don't believe the claim about it being "The first HT Bathurst Monaro" for two reasons:
1/ There is no such thing as a Bathurst Monaro, although that terminology is sometimes used. 2/ It has an ADR compliance plate on it, which makes it a 1970 car. There are dozens of HT350 Monaros earlier than that.

It is the 2nd HT 81837 body put together as a hard trimmed and painted shell, but it wasn't actually run through the Elizabeth assembly plant until 5/1970. This is why it bears the early HT chassis number (which went on the painted body in the body plant, and the 2-A body number as the body tag also went on in the body plant) but has a 5/70 compliance plate. 1-A had a 327 in it, and the first 350 powered HT was 1-H5. This car can claim it is the lowest body number from Elizabeth with a 350 put in it, and probably the earliest chassis number with a 350, but there would have been probably 700 HT GTS350's actually completed before this car saw an engine. |
