Hello Jim. Yep I crossed it up a bit. I was trying to imply the 186 is the base of the GTS tree. But I am also saying that Kingswood level cars are certainly in the spotlight at the moment too. This car will be interesting to see at auction. Cheers Nick

$80,000 for the Black HG 186S Trimatic Monaro! Must've been pretty good.

I was told by a potential buyer that there was significant corrosion on most bolts, brackets etc. Car looked good otherwise but probably 15+ year old paint and trim. |

Hello. Byron, what did you think about the black Monaro? I feel it is a trend setter and surely firms up values generally. Cheers Nick. Edited by user Sunday, 5 June 2016 8:55:01 PM(UTC)

Not sure if it is because it is black or because it is a GTS or because it was an auction. People get all gooey over black as they think its rare, but it isn't as rare as other colours. So I don't really know, you'd have to ask the buyer and whomever was bidding against them. To me it is too much but I often think that about some Toranas yet people still pay it. |

take a look at the price the XC cobra went for AND we saw the bid from online for $101k but the auctioneer clearly did not. That is, there was more left in the pocket for the car. Bodes well for those with these desirable cars. How long will I have to wait for the mighty JD Camira to increase in value ;-)

Hello Warwick Yellow.
Are you referring to the Red 327 which went through 782 Motors on the Gold Coast last year? I heard it was more than $170k. Good unrestored condition. If that was it?

Hi Nick, The car I am talking about was this one https://www.australianmu...-hk-gts-monaro-327.html
Not sure if links work here or not. Red with Parchment trim. Sold by Mike Selby to a Victorian bloke (Steve ??) who had it restored in Adelaide, showed it around and then had to sell it. The above is correct - could be wrong re the sales agent but when discussing this car I was told that it was sold by Old Timer Australia (from Brisbane) to NZ and the price was 190K. This discussion was just over 2 years ago so maybe not the car you mention.

This discussion was just over 2 years ago so maybe not the car you mention. I've met the owner of the red car which he put through 782 Motors. Yes it was non restored car in fair to good condition. My understanding was between $170 and $190. Yes I do feel that Monaro prices are on the move. Cheers Nick. |
