Hi guys New to fast lane I'm Trying to find badge placement for my 1968 HK gts Monaro 186s as currently restoring it at the moment with no badge holes due to replacing metal by previous owner now ready for paint this weekend. Have been told to find a unrestored Monaro or the Monaro magic book for stripes but does it have the badge placements too ?
Thanks in advance

I would ditch the badge pins and attach them with some kind of adhesive or 3m tape rather than drilling holes .

Hi Nick. I sent you an email. Also have a good surf of this site for info. There is a search option at the top of the page. Byron, do you know if the 186S badge location was consistent for all Plants? I think the book you need is The Monaro Story by Warren Turnbull/Ben Stewart. Link to Govt reference page: http://trove.nla.gov.au/version/45899063 . That will provide you with the info you might need to find the book in the second hand market. There were people selling Pdfs of it but I heard they were breaching Copyright. If you want a Pdf the I would suggest you contact the Publisher of Copyright owner and see if they will sell you one. It is probably the most accurate reference to date. I had a look through Norm Darwin's book "Monaro Magic" and did not see any reference to Stripes/ badge location. Very good read though and choc full of info. Norm, like Warren and Ben has incredible knowledge. Both books are worth whatever you pay and absolutely hold their value. Contact info: H@ND PUBLISHING 17 CUMMINS RD MT ROWAN VIC 3352 PHONE: 03 53 346466 EMAIL [email protected]Nick, please post up some pics of your GTS. Cheers Nick. Hi Nick I had a look in Norm Darwins Monaro Magic book and it does have stripe locations in there for HK page 18. When we did my badges we looked at alot of original photos, close ups especially the guard badges above the flutes for a guide as we had nothing to go by as well. Keen eye and a steady hand needed haha Bonnet and boot badges are a bit easier with them obviously lining up with the stripes. Just a matter of getting the height correct, also for the monaro boot badge on opposite side. Good luck with your project. Paul |

Hello Nick
The red HK 327 in Monaro Magic is mine. The stripes are correct. If you would like I can take detail pics and email them to you but will take about 1 week. I have to work and won't get to the shed til late in the week.
Cheers Nick

Can take some detail photos on the weekend. I am working and won't be in shed til then. Cannot help with exact on that as I would have to remove the badges. Byron, do you know anything about badge hole location? Cheers. Nick. |

I don't have an original 327 guard to measure holes off. I have an original paint HK GTS boot stashed away and a bonnet as well but neither are here. |
