Hi all i have a 308 with a vp number and cast date is 7E9 would this be 1969 or 1979? cheers

Could also be '89 Need to know some other features - like what's cast into the side of the block (capacity), what the trans bolt pattern is, and if there's no heads on it, does it have the additional drilled & tapped head bolt holes down the outside of the bores on the inside of the valley? (these were not used on EFI engines). |

Not 1969. Has to be 79, 89 or 99. As Mick says the side of the block will reveal all. 308, 5.0 or blank will mean respectively 79, 89 or 99. Edited by user Tuesday, 4 April 2017 7:29:50 PM(UTC)

It won't be 1969 because the codes early on had the letter first then the day and then the year last.
