Anyone else been frustrated with the search facility on the RS website or is it just me?
Jumped in today to try and refind (I had seen them before while looking for something else) a weatherstrip moulding screw I found in one of my many searches; that is, I spend an unfortunate amount of time scrolling through pages in the hope what I want is there as the search does not work.
Tonight, I jump into the RS home page and enter the string 'screw', leaving the 'all makes' field at default 'All makes'. Result= No records found
I then spend the next 15 minutes scrolling through pages (22 of them) of clips and fasteners with no luck; it jumps from ST0058 to ST0060.
Jump into NPD's site as I know these are common and find them after a quick test search. Do a google search trying to find an Aussie source and guess where I see a photo, Rare Spares as ST0059. Back to the RS site I go and type in the number. Up they come described as a 'Screw kit weatherstrip roof rail'.
Can anyone please explain why ST0059 does not present as a result from a basic text string search using 'screw' or as part of the clips and fasteners generic category? Customers tend to buy from you if they are able to find what it is they are searching for. Not many will persist to the extent I did and this has happened a few times now.
Cheers Jacko

I have retired from Rare Spares after 30 years and have forwarded your comment onto the IT department. I know the frustration in finding parts by description.

Hi Jacko,
Sorry to hear of the problems you had using our web site. Although I’m a little late it appears as though there may have been two problems on the night. Problem one appears as though our web site search database hadn’t populated correctly. Searching the web site now all seems okay and I suspect our daily re-population fixed the problem. This maybe something we have to look into if the problem continues. The second problem is merely a categorisation issue where ST0059 had been categorised as a weather strip, which is correct, but not as a fastener as well. This has just been fixed. If anyone else experiences searching issues please feel free to post your experience to this thread.
Cheers,
David

Thanks for the reply David. At the end of the day we are trying to make your role of selling easier - to us admittedly. Cheers Jacko
