hi guys just wondering if somebody can tell me if this engine number is correct for this car its a hq coupe vin no. 8Q37TDJ402860Q....chassis number..DHQ06585M.... engine number QT429981....thanks in advance..

I cannot tell you it isn't the original number. I think number is out a bit from what it should be but there is no real pattern to them so it could be. The only way you'll know is if the car was originally registered in Victoria go to the AOMC with the engine number and see if it matches the chassis number. |

I'd be 95% sure it's the original, the engine no. fits for a 10/73 HQ and is in line with those I have recorded around it. |

It is a tad out for 308 auto engines though Leroy. If I had to make a best odds guess I'd say that engine number was from a Pagewood car, but being a 308 engine they were shipped in far smaller batches so there is no way to be certain unless the AOMC can help with the original chassis number for that engine number. |

it is a October 1973 car so theres a good chance, I,ll keep my fingers crossed, have found the old rego number so hopefully the AOMC can help me, thanks again for all your help fella,s..

All you need with the AOMC is the engine number. Their records are filed by engine number. The card with that number (assuming 1st rego in VIC) will list the original car's chassis number. |
