Need to pain a chassis in my garage and need to heat the garage up before hand which is approximately 6m x 8.5m was wondering what guys out there use for home use painting I have been painting small item by using a heat gun but need something hands free, was thinking of maybe trying to heat the garage up with one or two oil filled heaters or maybe the industrial Bromic type gas electric heaters, I just need to warm the garage before hand and try and get some heat into the chassis another option was maybe some heat lamps

Depends how cold the ambient temp is, how well insulated your shed is, and how well it holds heat.

In Sydney, in a large double garage, I can't seal it off well enough for a gas or electric fan heater (convection types) to actually make much of a difference to the overall temp (and therefore warm up objects to paint) so I use heat lamps - which is really the only option at night in a garage/shed that doesn't hold heat well.
With the heat lamps, I painted an entire engine bay on a winter night after warming the area for a couple of hours. They are only really good for about an 800mm diameter region though, so you'd need a lot of them for a chassis, and space them out well.

Personally, I'd think about making some sort of dolly for the chassis, and wheel it out into the sun on a weekend from mid morning until lunch, then wipe it down, wheel it in, one last quick wipe, then paint. Let mother nature help you instead of hindering. I ended up doing a lot of dash parts & doors this way, as the warmth from the winter sun at midday in 10 minutes is better than 4 heat lamps for 1/2 hour.
Cheers,

Mick

Hi mate yeah the shed is well insulated just a bid awkward getting it in and out of the garage, think if I can just hire or maybe some type of heating have read on some America Hot Rod sides using oil filled heaters to warm the garage.
