Aussie and the Kiwi's got the V8, and now South Africa, can't even get the V8 in Japan, they got a V6 in their 70 series in 2015, and that was after a 15 year no 70 series.Even comes in a panel van in the guise of a troupe carrier, talk about yank import's. Read what they say about these 70 series in the USA, seems they are being exported out of Aussie to the good old US of A, and if you have never driven one then try they are bloody wicked. They made the duel cab just for us first. It's our iron ore that makes these 70 series VDJ's and it's us they build them for. I tow a car trailer loaded at a 130/140 kph cruise, the Troopy is fast becoming a cult, Troop Carrier's of Australia is an example. If one is a lounge lizard then you get a 200 series, they may suit you old folk more. In the cities like (not including Brisbane) "Melbourne" {coffee culture folk) you don't see VDJs they drive automobiles that have the most amount of cup holders, my 2007 VDJ V8 has NO cup holders, no ABS, no traction control and one computer that runs the engine, so I get to drive Her, I change gears when I want. She is as close to an Aussie car as a US inspired HQ and i luv HQ's. But for real, was a dummy door Opel with a 1955 inspired V8 or 1962 V6 Buick engine every an Australian Icon "I don't think so old Man. I agree with most of what say don't worry about that...I or should I say "WE" meaning the wife got involved and we ended up with New Ford Ranger to do the grey nomad thing...We did around 7,000k trip from SEQ thru central NSW onto the coast at Batemans bay then followed the coast to Victor Hbr then home...Anyway, Brother inlaws Cruiser duel cab , lets just say could not really keep up and was getting 10lt to 100s worse fuel...very similar vans and weight, mine was stock running gear he had to air bag his rear.....Dont get me wrong ol mate I love my Toyotas...They were a just a bit to agricultural for the Princess. ...She like the lights and buttons...LOL...OH,yes the cup holders hahaha. I looked at buying one of those dual cab 'cruisers. Bloody uncomfortable to sit it, manual only and compared to my Hilux no power. Sure it had heaps of torque but 80% of my use is daily driver. If they'd make them with the 5.7L petrol engine (effectively the 308 version to the smaller "253" 200 series' 4.6L V8) and auto transmission i'd have one tomorrow though. Funny thing is though, the big mines don't want the V8 diesel. Too unreliable and complicated. So Toyota imports the Tanzania spec 1HZ non-turbo diesel in LHD for them, they are never registered and go forever. Edited by user Monday, 3 July 2017 6:41:17 AM(UTC)
