Orchid HQ GTS - what colour stripes?
What colour are the stripes suposed to be on an orchid coloured HQ?
I thought black was the only option but were white stripes an option for this colour?

I would think the colour stripes would have been a buyer choice, I have seen purple with white and blue with white, silver with orange.
Black may have been the most common picked.

My GTS/4 is orchid with black stripes.
I have seen purr-pull with white stripes but never an orchid with white stripes.

Ive only seen white stripes on Purrpull (Purple), Juniper Metallic (Dark Green), Sunburst Metallic (Gold), Cyan Metallic (Blue) and Azure Blue (Blue). I guess they could have been optioned on a Orchid car back in the day.

I've only seen white stripes on Purrpull (Purple), Juniper Metallic (Dark Green), Sunburst Metallic (Gold), Cyan Metallic (Blue) and Azure Blue (Blue). I guess they could have been optioned on a Orchid car back in the day.

i have 2 orchid metallic hq gts monaros one a coupe the other 4 door and both where black striped from factory, Garry

There was a limit to the stripes colour, dependant on the main body colour, for Tangarine, you could have Black or Orange only, For Cyan Blue Black or White only, For Purr-pull White & Orange only (The orange stripes looked great) but I think from memory |

Have orchid 308 4 speed coupe, Black stripes have not seen any with white.

Bloody hell theres orchid HQs everywhere!!! ha ha
Might have to start up our own orchid club soon.
Yeah Ive seen cyan blue cars with black stripes and some with white stripes so thats what started me thinking that maybe the stripe shades were optional

Rigpig, the interior on my Orchid GTS/4 is 30Y(black with houndstooth cloth inserts)but with a beige headlining and visors which looks original - work that one out!

Great colour one of the generals best... you always got heaps of comments like... thats cool or thats gay. "My nannas wears the same coloured undies" is what the commentator at Murray Bridge Autofest spruked several times when I was in the burnout comp an |

I bought a Sunburst HQ 4 Door GTS new in 73. Originally the only option was white stripes.I told the dealer I wanted black & was told it was not an option, something about the computer design indicated white was the best look! Go figure that!. They offere

Computer design? in 1973? they were still using microfiche and clay models back then.... Windows wasn't even thought of.... I somehow doubt they had CAD.
