Just saw an article for this years Motorclassica at the Royal Exhibition building in Melb (which to be honest I've never herd of before). My interest is in the Gold flake 69' Hurricane and the Pearl white 70' GTR-X. Are these real Holden concept cars or repo's? The paint doesn't appear to suit the era.

I was a judge for the Holdens at that event & both those cars are the real deal. Their paint however is not original.
Both cars have had recent restorations, which in the case of the GTR-X was the 2nd in its history. It was repainted silver & had Sunbird SL/E alloy wheels fitted to it around 30+ years ago.
It has now been faithfully restored, with the exception of modern 2-pack paint. I cannot accurately remember what shade of white it was back in 1970, but it would've been acrylic & probably Kashmir White which was the GM-H white of the HT/LC/HG era.
The Hurricane was restored recently & to my mind the Gold metallic used is much more 'coarse' than the 1969 original. I spoke to the guys from GM-H & they insist that they had an unfaded sample of the original paint analysed & reproduced the paint as accurately as they could.
Having said that, both these cars are a credit to GM-H & the guys that built them, just like the Efigy which was also present at the show.

Thanks Dr Terry I didn't think it would be an easy job to remake either of those two cars. With the Efigy there also it's a shame I didn't know about the show as I would've gladly made the 6 hour round trip to see them. Is it an annual show?

As I understand it, this was the 8th show, the first being in 2010. It is probably Australia's most prestigious multi-marque concours event.
