Hi Fellas....Here is the sonerio....I am putting a V8 in a WB ute that had a 6 Manual...

The pedals are different with a longer hook, on the V8's that is pivoted in the bottom hole from what I can gather..(the top hole for 6's)

Now the issue is.....Is there a easy way of taking out the pivot bolt thru the pedal without having to take all the brake structure off,to course the bolt slides out to the right not the left where it would be dead easy and make sense?

I plan to extent the hook 25mm plus relocate the flat part of the pedal higher by 50mm or what ever it needs to be equal with the brake length.I'd buy one but can't find one for love nor money.

I have a UC Torana cable that is 50mm shorter...the travel in inner cable is longer ....any use?

Thanks of course....Griff

Mods...This may belong in the tech forum ...sorry.

From memory you have to release the master cylinder to move the brake pedal so the bolt slides out.

V8 WB pedal and cable is easy to find:

Mate, have a good sip at the pub and come back to it tomorrow when your fresh. The amount of times i've gone to do a two minute job and near on caused a world war 'cause the bloody thing wont fit as it should only to find out that after a "time out" the bloody thing fits easy next time. The better half can usually hear me from the back paddock.

Just a thought but I've found a small fluro light works heaps better than a torch when working under the dash. you can see heaps better but unfortunately it doesn't help with the pain in the back.

I feel worse..LOL!....I drank and slept on it.

I have a idea...If I crack a wheel cylinder bleeder the brake pedal should go to the floor ...right?d'oh!
Then I should be able to slide the bloody clutch bolt out to the right hand side....yes,no ...thoughts?
Do the job on the pedal then put it back in the lower hole as per V8's.Boys that should save me a hell of a lot of frustration.Dancing

Gee that sounds good tho ...YAY,,LOL,

I actually meant disconnect the pedal from the booster, which may give you enough movement in the pedal. If not remove the brake pedal first to get to the clutch pedal.

Hey griffo The local pub must love it when you work on cars. Do they send the locals around with "quick fix" jobs to get you in the mood for a beer?BigGrin

The clutch cable used to fall off my brothers WB if you pulled the pedal upwards with your foot. It happened to me at the lights once. The fun bit was getting it back on.
Actually, it used to get stuck on flat out if pushed the accelerator all the way to the floor as well. That’s fun too when you don’t expect it, like when overtaking.

Hi wbute....This clutch still had the little rubber ring thingy on the hook to stop that happening, when I tried to roll it out of the way it broke of course didn't [it angry] .
I don't have one to replace it so a cable tie will have to do...I remember the UC Torana I had would come off to like you say.....According to the book there was supposed to be a clip over the top of the hook to stop that happening...Poor design I think as they used to come off and got sucked up by the vac cleaner.
