Hi all I have been asked to see if anyone as any info or any pictures of these cars. This is what I have been told about them. There were 8 El Caminos made not sure on colours this one is an early 1972 lime green metallic with black trim with black and white flax rado on seats and a GTS dash. They had no GTS steering wheel as that was not an option. The GMH dealership Neil Neilson motors Burwood Hwy Ferntree Gully painted stripes on them and fitted badges off a 68-69 El Camino ute & sold them as an El Camino GT saloons. The dealer didn't get authority from GMH and was told if he sold any more he would loose his dealership. This car was made on 4/1972 and wasn't registered until the 3/1973. About a year difference because the dealer had to wait until the 4 door Monaro was bought out before he could sell this car. There are more pictures here http://gallery.oldholden.com/HQ_SS/Other+HQs/
of this one and a advert for them as well. If you have any information or pictures contact me at [email protected]Cheers Paul.

Its a bit of a silly idea from a dealer considering the EL Camino was a ute/pickup and had chev badges. If they had applied this concept to a ute then maybe fair enough !

Yes Cloudy it was strange to use the El Camino name on a sedan but I have been emailed tonight by a ex HQ El Camino owner and he as said that El Camino is Spanish for "the road" so maybe it was that image the dealer was going for with the El Camino nam
