Floor panels fitted. 17mm formply screwed and glued with Sika marine sealant.

Body construction started. Main side panels and internal panels going in. All done in 12mm external grade ply. Main side panels also have a 6mm MDF inner liner.

More fitout and an extra layer of 9mm MDF around the door openings to help neaten things up.

Hurricane hinge fitted and the rear compartment door framework getting sorted. Outer skin of 4mm marine ply fitted to give as an idea of the overall shape. Roof will be 3 layers of 4mm ply with 19mm pine sandwiched in between. Nice and strong.

It is amazing how many old pieces of cr@p, but still good cars or at least good sources of parts, are still out there. Just their value has jumped significantly since 10 years ago!

Two of these bodies are pretty good with enough rust to be a pain but not enough to make them impractical to repair. This purchase was a job lot of the three bodies and all the parts stripped off them. Also included was a 185kw 5lt and auto as well as a body shell rotisserie. Extra spares included some aftermarket steering wheels, an EH and a HR console, 161 and hydramatic. The plan is to build one car as a keeper, one as a project to someone keen for a bargain. The third white shell will give up all the bolt-ons and then be dissected for it's good rust repair sections then go to the recyclers.

I’ve got three HK’s stashed away for similar service, two Kingswood sedans and a Monaro. I’ve already cut up one of the sedans and left it in major sections. The other two are still complete waiting to be donors. I really have to get the Monaro in to the shed and have it give up its quarters and windscreen pillars soon. Shame to cut up a good shell but no other way to get the parts needed.

One of the first jobs on the new wagon project will be to adapt the VT-VZ brake booster/cylinder assembly and clutch master cylinder to the EH pedal box. The brake conversion is straight forward and I've done it on both my other EH's. However this will be the first manual car. The clutch master cylinder will live under the dash so I need to modify the pedal. I need to find out what the pedal ratio is on a VT 5litre manual with the Getrag 290 gearbox. I want to replicate this ratio to keep everything feeling right.
