Hi guys just wanting some help on some info on a HK gts monaro I’m looking at buying. I’d like to know if someone can tell me where it was built and roughly the year /month etc.
The big tag reads body 80737kr-02***-h5 Small tag 80737kh55**** Engine starts with 307 1**** Firewall number hk17***ss one of the “s” is under the other at end. Sorry I’m a little scared of displaying all the numbers as of security theft so any help verifying the body matches the tags and engine (307) what number should I look for in the engine number to see if it’s a matching number engine for the tags. Thanks

You might be better off contacting HK1837 direct with all the numbers as he is the expert on them. That way you don't need to display them here.

You can post them here, no danger of theft. No-one is going to use existing numbers on another car! |

I thought someone could at least give me an idea If the numbers seem correct and an idea of where it’s built and a rough year with the start of the numbers. If I was to buy it I just don’t want the numbers out there in computer land.

Got to love the "someone might steal my numbers" paranoia.
Can only verify if you give all the details, cutting out numbers means you cannot tell anything.
Give your date of birth, with numbers missing, and then ask someone to tell you exactly how old you are.

Hi Sparky.
Warren is one of the foremost people with knowledge on all things as is HK1837.
They are completely correct. The real danger is someone who has a set of tags and no car. That is where there is a problem.
I have an HK 327 which has been to hundreds of car shows. More often than not when it was parked on display it's numbers were exposed because the bonnet was open. Mine and thousands of other Monaros have had their numbers photographed. You simply cannot steal the I.D of a car which is legit so don't worry about it and give them your numbers if you want help. If someone was to pinch your numbers, just where do you think they would find a set of blank tags, the correct font stamps for the tags and also a set of correct stamps for both the firewall and the Chev engine. Even if said thief was successful with that bit there is the already existing I.D info on a rego file in one state. Then if they turned up with it to join a club then someone in the know would spot the errors the thief made doing the bodge I.D.
Mate (whatever your first name is), relax about the numbers. You're worried about nothing.
Cheers Nick. |
