Just found out today that the batch of (120 ? ) HK 307 Premier sedans made in NZ only have the USA number stamped on the block ...No Holden Number . These are the only Chevy powered Holden's ever made in NZ .Mark.

It isn't a USA number, it is Canadian! They aren't truly a Chevy engine either as a result, as in 1967-68 when the 307's were made the McKinnon plant wasn't a Chevrolet plant. They may not have had a chassis number either.

The 350 "Statesman" export that Greg at ClassicOz wrecked about 10 years ago didn't have an assembly plant engine number or a chassis number either. I don't think we figured out where it was assembled either, I know who has the tags off it so will see what they say.

Ok Byron , I got that wrong... Canada , but do we know where the engines for the CKD chevs GMNZ were making at the time came from ?. I have never ID one of these engines ? Must find one to look at. Yes none of the GMNZ made Holden's had chassi numbers. It would be interesting to see the HQ Chev 350 Statesman Tags , I have a set that are Sydney. Mark.

They'll be the same engines that Aussie assembled Holden and Statesman got, they all came via Fishermans Bend. Even the V8 CKD cars GM South Africa assembled had engines that came through Fisherman's Bend.

From memory this had weird numbers on the VIN tag. Will chase them up. I may even have photos at home from when the car was still together.
