The SBC engines were stamped at the assembly plants, and some were rough as guts. If that is original (and I don't think it is) it is Dandenong assembly plant. I'd need to see the whole number including the engine plant stamp and the date code to know for certain. |

I need to actually see the stampings, and the date code off the side to make a call. If it is what I suspect it is, the digit after the 4 should be a 0, and the date code (side of block) will be something like 1Cxx. If it is that then the roughness of the 350M stamping will make more sense to you. Also find out if it is 2 or 4 bolt. My guess is 2 bolt if it is what I suspect. It has now appeared on Ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/...=p2047675.c100005.m1851
It is now obvious what it once was. Cast date is either 1B4 or 1E4 which is early 1971 and aligns with the May 1971 assembly date. It will be 350M40xxx. 3rd photos shows it is a 2 bolt. |

No. Never for a HG, HG 350’s were finished before the end of 1970, and this was cast in April 1971. Plus it is a 2 bolt, HT-HG 350M engines were 4 bolt. The number has clearly been restamped but i’d say it is all the original numbers for the block. However this was never built for a Holden. |
