Getting of topic but...
Bloody yankee terms used annoys the hell out of me for a start.
It’s called a SHED...A farm shed, back shed, shearing shed, hay shed ..
I mean really!!!

Yep makes my WB a shed find. Been in there for 4 years now. It’s definitely covered in dust.
Can’t stand the “barn” find thing either. They are in sheds or rusting away in a backyard in Australia. You have to get on a plane to find a barn.

I guess it is a term coined by the yanks and the definition covers all manner of shelters.

Other terms coined by the yanks that we have adopted here are "Muscle car" and "Survivor" and no one cares that these terms are now part of our vocabulary.

As for the over use of it, that has come about by Survivor Car Magazine over using the term for all manner of cars that they have found in sheds etc. As Mick pointed out a true "Barn Find" is when someone takes over a property and finds a car that everyone had forgotten about, which is extremely rare. There are thousands of cars out there that are sitting in sheds/garages etc that the owner knows about and will get back to it one day.

Yeah I grew up under the impression that if you called a bag a sack or a shed a barn or a biscuit a cookie or a railway line a railroad etc etc you had either were easily influenced by the seppos or you had no idea.

Had a young guy next door to my old place who was forever trying to spin a single front tyre in his Honda.
It was the weekend before my driveway was being ripped up, so I let rip in the VS 5L, leaving a wavy # 11 up the drive, totally smoking out the kid (OK, I wasn't much older, and not much wiser at that point either). As the smoke cleared he comes up to the fence & goes "awesome, what's under the hood bro?" - I looked at him with fake puzzlement & said "it's not a convertible mate" - and he goes - nah, there, under the hood. So I said "oh, you mean bonnet right?" and he goes "nah, the hood."

So I rolled out this line - "So when you've put the subs in your trunk, and wiped the dirty marks off the fender, do you go inside for a soda, wash your hands under the faucet and pee in the WC?" He looked at me blanky, so I said "mate, if that's a hood, you better get up on your yank speak, if you don't understand the rest."

In more recent times, I'm really hating this halloween crap. We have a 7 & 3 year old in the house, and they both crap on about "candy" instead of lollies, and the 7 year old even puts on a fake yankee accent at times. Drives me insane. I tell her I work for an American company, talk to yanks nearly every morning - I don't need to hear it at home, when we live in Australia. Now they want "candy" for Easter.... Next it will be Thanksgiving in November too....

My original post was more to do with the fact a V2 with over 200,000km on it could be a "barn find", hell I can go to plenty of car yards and find them with less than those kM!

However the use of US language p!sses me off too. Like the use of "styleside". What did surprise me recently though was I was flicking on Foxtel (like I do whenever ads come on) and saw a rare Willys on the Barrett Jackson Auction show. It was an old prototype where the quarters on the "bed" were part of the cabin pressing. They called it a "coupe utility", and went on to say this was one of the first coupe utilities in the USA, later examples were the El Caminos and Rancheros. So here is an Aussie term that made it to the USA! Even the attached Wiki page gives Australia the credit for it.

I found the owner's text to be somewhat arrogant using Phrases like "don't bother" and "No the Fairlane is not for sale". That CV8 is not all that special....yet. Especially with over 200,000Kms on the clock. I am sure that with a little looking around another could be found still in use ( without the issues related to a car just being parked up like that) ....and possibly less kms.
