Are these plates stamped differently to other HGs? https://www.carsales.com.../SSE-AD-5163627/?Cr=217
-The body plate 'HG' is stamped deeper then other letters -The VIN is a mixture of down stamped 81469G while assembly plant and sequence numbers are stamped from behind. Does Body No. 2 make this the 2nd HG Brougham built? The Trim code 'SPEC' and Paint number 567-1155/23/10 shows this isn't an ordinary Brougham

Not unusual to find very early or specials with funny stamping. This one will be one of the very early internal cars. I don't have a list of HG's for this though, only HK and HT. Only thing out of the ordinary is the tags have been removed and it doesn't have an ADR tag by the looks however it may have been made in 1969 which would explain that. The paint is a special order, or not a standard paint. Edited by user Monday, 2 April 2018 2:46:23 PM(UTC)

Okay I understand. I can see car's current colour isn't certain the original (nor I would say it was appealing either) however I can see yellow paint exposed by a few chips in the pic of the body plate, but only speculation. It also doesn't have the original grille either, but a HT one and missing the grill extensions under the front bar and few other things; however thats expected on the car of this age Edited by user Monday, 2 April 2018 5:08:32 PM(UTC)

From memory that didn’t happen in HG, and not sure if these early tryout/pilots were done the same as normal production either. |

It's been discussed a few times, but I wasn't aware the Body Numbers and Firewall numbers matched up on these cars? This Brougham is No 2 on both Edited by user Sunday, 8 April 2018 7:55:11 PM(UTC)

Sometimes they fluke it, or someone has put 2 and 2 together (so to speak!) when creating a fake car and got 5. I have seen a Pagewood firewall number fluke where it was the same as the chassis number too. |

My ongoing fascination with these early build car continues... HT Belmont factory V8... body No. 4 https://www.ebay.com.au/...=p2047675.c100005.m1851
BTW.. I thought factory V8s had disc brakes on the front? (Providing someone hasn't swapped out disc or drums)

I saw that car a while back. It isn’t all that early though, just V8 HT Belmont sedan are very rare. From memory discs weren’t standard with V8 at the build time of this car. |
