Never heard of it. Closest I know of is the 4.6L (283) made for about 10 years from 1957.

They did make a 4.8 Gen 3 V8 from 99-07 , it was a truck motor. Thanks Mark.

Ah yes, the 1918 Chevrolet D V8, the only Chevrolet V8 before the small block. I went to the Fountainhead auto museum in Fairbanks Alaska in September this year. They had lots of 19teens cars but not one of these.
They had an exposed valve train and produced less than 40hp.
It is also the only “Chevrolet” V8 engine by the looks, the 1918 cars were General Motors Chevrolet but the engines were designed and produced initially by Chevrolet prior to GM buying the company!

Cool bit of trivia.

No, I didn't know about that one. It wasn't open on the couple of days we stayed in Nuri when we toured through N/west VIC, SA & Kangaroo Island (with the vintage club) in 2004.

So I guess that makes 3! The 2 I know of are both in NSW.

Are you talking GM small block or Chevrolet small block? I know there were a few 6.2L engines in other GM divisions like Cadillac plus of course the GenIV GM engines.

There was a GMC V6 at 6.2L. Not sure if it was ever used in a Chevrolet though, mainly GMC.

Cool, I never knew Chevrolet actually built a factory 377 (400 stroke (3.75”) crank in a 302/327/350 block). People wrongly call these a 383ci engine.
