Just up on the fence in front of Fort Scratchley watching the cars in Newcastle. Whilst all the old V8’s sound good especially some of the 302 SBC’s in the Toranas, Cameron Tilley’s screaming 6cyl Hemi Pacer sounds wicked. I think the only car louder is the old Mercury Comet.

I went for a walk down through the pits. Only one of the Toranas still had ID plates, it was a 2850cc, 3spd manual with 3.36 rear axle base Torana (VB69) with front bench seat originally, Absinth Yellow with black trim. Bowe's car had it sADR plate but the other two were missing. When you look close at them it is amazing how original they are, they still use factory upper control arms and the basics of the factory crossmember in place (modified for power steering). Shame GMH never built them like this, with a 302ci SBC V8 and Muncie or Super T10, they'd really have been more of a weapon than they were.

If we all had the same (good) taste, who would buy all the Fords?
