Just a reminder about the Monaro nationals this year.

The Monaro is turning 40! On Monday 22nd July 1968, the HK Monaro was unveiled to a very excited media who, along with a string of racing victories, helped cement the Monaro in Australian motoring folklore. The next 10 years saw the Monaro evolve through a series of coupe and sedan variants into a mighty sports sedan. The HZ GTS was the most mechanically advanced and visually striking Monaro (although it didnt actually wear a Monaro badge). The Monaro has enjoyed an increasing rise in popularity over the years and with the release of the V2 range in 2001 this popularity went into overdrive. Monaro is now a household word and most revered amongst the Australian public.

The Monaro Nationals are held every 2 years at various locations Australia-wide and this years event is to be held in Ballarat from Friday 31st October to Monday 3rd November. Titled Monaros Under The Southern Cross, this event promises to deliver hundreds of Monaros with a wide range of activities for owners and admirers alike, packed into 4 days of all things Monaro.

The Show & Shine continues to be a highlight of the weekend with entrants cars proudly displayed in their respective model groups, representing the various eras of Australian muscle car heritage. Also featured is a Drag Racing Spectacular, held over 1/8 mile at Ballarat airport on Sunday 2/11, a day full of fierce, high octane competition, guaranteed to be a crowd pleaser. There will also be an entrant dinner, mini swap meet, kids & wives activities, parade and cruise. There is over 100 fantastic trophies on offer for the various judging categories too.

Entry is open to ANY Monaro or variant thereof. A concourse condition 6 cylinder base model is as welcome as a wildly modified Chev engine example.
