That is good that Leo remembered it. As he says he has forgotten a lot of them. I think Leo is selling his efforts short though as by December 1972 they built the Sandman prototypes and just over a year later were building Sandmans which were essentially a GTS ute minus the interior trim and GTS badges. Great bit of history on your ute DW. Congrats.  Interesting that Leo says "The Chateau Mauve exterior colour was a new colour we had developed in-house, and planned for a future colour range, so it was promoted on this ute as well". Chateau Mauve was released for Holden & Torana in Feb 1972. I can only assume Leo is referring to the fact that Chateau Mauve was not available on Belmont & Kingswood at the time your ute was built. He may be referring to when they put the car in the schedule to be built that Chateau Mauve was an upcoming colour. |
