If you find it let me know as I original 10/74 ones for my HJ Premier to rebuild. They are still green with broadcast sheet stickers on them. I had thought about trying to get it paint matched but so far the places I tried needed a larger flat sample to match. |

I talked to an automotive paint shop today, they need a flat, gloss surface about the size of a business card. Obviously a shock doesn’t fit that criteria. But the local household paint place can do it off a surface the size of a pencil. So I’m going to get some gloss household paint done, and paint it on a flat surface, then get some pressure packs done. The colour almost looks like a satin Woodsman Green. You’d only need it to be close. Let me know what the valving code is on yours as if mine are the same the picking slip sticker code will be the same and in the same location. I have NOS front shocks and they are a satin black. Edited by user Monday, 12 August 2019 11:12:27 AM(UTC)

I had a NOS 73 shock absorber colour matched by Steve at Eastern Auto Paints in Bayswater, the NOS shock is second from the left in this pic. The other shocks are new Monroe Wylie gas units I painted with the acrylic paint Steve mixed up for me to go into my LJ GTR I'll have a look tomorrow to see if I still have the colour formula, if not Steve should have it on record. Cheers Kev

You’ll be a lifesaver Kev if you can get the formula!
BTW only the tears should be green! Fronts are black in my experience. |

Ok so here's the acrylic paint formula to make 1 litre of shock absorber green A020 23.9 A050 85.9 A129 637.4 A310 738.3 A420 851.6 A480 912.7 A610 934.8 Byron are you sure all the original front shocks were black? Here's my NOS front one, dated coded 4F3, exact same colour as the rear one

Thanks mate, will get some mixed. I have never seen original green front ones, only black. Don’t take a lot of notice of NOS, these are spare parts not original fitment. Although I have never found replacement ones in green, only black. But I have only seen a small sample. The original 10/74 original fitment shocks I have for my HJ are green rear black front. I just did a bit o a search and it looks like people have generally found green shocks front and rear for LJ. So maybe you are right to have them green on the front?
