Hi,
Have bought a 1981 wb holden ute. Am looking for the following, double radiator fan, any manuals as want to completely rewire. Currently has automatic windown, want to convert back to wind up. Few other bits and pieces. I'm in Ireland, but was looking for a recommendation of where i can get parts.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Dec

You need to specify if it is a 6cyl or a Holden V8 or some other engine and what radiator is in it. There are a number of different fans, and most also run a shroud. Pictures would help. Going from old memories, it is not an easy task to refit electric window doors as manual operation. I think the steelwork on the inside is different. I have seen it done where the door inner (where the winders and handles go) was cut out and the right one welded in. Normally you would replace the doors, but finding good ones isn't cheap anymore and then getting them to you will be expensive and a high risk of damage. You'd also need to be sure it has WB doors as WB utes never had power windows. One of these will have the wiring schematics in it. You'll find used ones on Ebay at times too: https://www.ebay.com.au/...2ae3:g:IkEAAOSwSHBda3yD
Someone else here may be able to tell you if this WB supplement has the WB commercial wiring diagrams in it: https://www.ebay.com.au/...c675:g:-OMAAOSwrANclCq2

The electric motors bolt into the three dimples pressed into the inner skin. The main problem is when the front part of the door is cut to fit speakers. This usually cuts out the electric window motor mounting dimples. The big question is, how did a WB ute end up in Ireland???? Edited by user Tuesday, 3 September 2019 8:43:07 AM(UTC)

I'm pretty sure the door's inner panel is the same for both power & manual windows. I've done many conversions both ways on HQ-HZ. I checked the parts catalogue & the Statesman door & commercial door have the same part numbers.
The electric motor is bolted to the regulator, not the door inner panel. The whole regulator bolts to the door inner in similar fashion to the manual reg., but lower down in the door & with more bolts.
The OP is asking about a "double radiator fan", does this mean a twin electric fan ? The WB just had a single engine fan mounted on the water pump, plus a condenser fan in front, if factory a/cond was fitted.
It might be easier to source a twin electric fan set-up from something over there, like a Mondeo or similar.

Maybe it was the rear doors I had seen with the inner panel replaced? I remember looking at it years ago but there was an issue somewhere, might have been speaker holes as stated. Where the holes go on WB Statesman doors for the speaker, isn’t that where the manual winder handle goes? OP would still need to get everything from manual doors and make sure they are not actually HQ doors. Plus get new manual window door trims. |

Caprice speakers were in the top of the door and probably did go where the winder went? Statesman and commercial doors should be a different part number as passenger cars had the side intrusion bar.

It wouldn't surprise me if the manuals have been scanned and uploaded somewhere. Might be worth doing a web search for them. Or just for the wiring diagrams. Having the whole manual is always nice though.
The OP may mean 'looking for a fan for a double (core) radiator'. But that's a guess. I know nothing about WBs. Overheating probably isn't as big a problem in Ireland as here!

Classic Oz Wreck at Toronto NSW would be a good place to start for second hand parts. I know he freights overseas.

Greg has a lot of stuff left. Not a lot of stuff left on cars but heaps off them. I think there is a couple of WB commercials left but pretty bare. |

Guys,
Thanks a million for all the responses. I will take pics of the car, engine and fan this evening irish time and i think will make easier. Im not a mechanic but fix bikes. The reason i have it is because i spent a fair while in Aus and the ute was the first car i drove over there. One came up for sale over here though a guy that i know from a friend. He imported it from Perth. Have loads of paper work going back to 1981. I couldnt resist as i was good money and over here road tax on a vintage car is only 56 euro and it never has to be tested for safety, so cheap on the road.
Anyway, thats why its here. Id like to bring it back to the look it was as much as possible, hence the questions.
Again thanks for the replies and i will put pics up tonight.

Nice one. I bet it turns some heads when it goes through town! GTS dash, V8(assumes it’s a 308?) bucket seats etc. I always wished I could have my WB when I lived in the UK.
