What do you mean by "early build". This is an Ermine white 1969 build.

Is that 'early' for NZ production, I would have thought that this was an Aussie built car.

Dr Terry
If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0

The tag says body 196, it might have sat in the showroom for a year before being sold, maybe New Zealanders preferred poverty pack Monaros as the 161 is better for the environment

Late HK build, not sure exactly when but 1969 assembly. That is the 196th 81837 plated HK from Elizabeth. By this time Pagewood and Dandenong had probably built over 300 or so each, plus the cars from Acacia Ridge.
The published breakpoint where second type 327 engines started at Elizabeth (rather than Canadian 327 appeared) was L120923 and this is L124410. So it is probably something like a Feb-Mar 1969 car or thereabouts (never really took much notice of Elizabeth numbers so can’t do any closer).

ADELAIDE BODY 237 was previously owned by a friend here in South Australia

Confirmed by people in the know to be the second or third to last HK 327 built at the Elizabeth plant

That sounds about right, 750-800 between Pagewood & Dandenong, 240 or so Elizabeth and rest at Acacia Ridge.

As a matter of interest what was the production number breakpoint between types 1 and 2 engines at Pagewood?
