My son is looking at purchasing a vehicle that has a Qld mod plate, it is currently fully registered in Victoria. Can this vehicle be registered in NSW by obtaining a blue slip or will it require a nsw engineer inspection as well? Thanks

Find out who the Engineer was. If he/she is a signatory in NSW, easy. If not it will probably have to be re-Engineered.
I looked into this recently when I almost bought a 100 Series Landcruiser from Victoria. It was converted into a dual cab in QLD and Engineered in QLD by an Engineer who was a NSW signatory. However it was re-engineered in Victoria with extra strengthening put into the chassis, GVM upgrade and a supercharger added. It was a really good deal as the cost was less than the conversion cost plus the supercharger kit. But it needed another at least $10,000 of Engineering in NSW as it would need to have the chassis modifications re-inspected (paint taken off, welds tested etc), the GVM upgrade all re-certified, brake tests done, wheels, tyres etc etc.
There is a number you can call in NSW to see if the inter-state Engineer is a signatory or not. |

Thanks Byron for your input. My son made contact with an engineer in Griffith, who said NSW don’t recognise mod plate or engineers certificate from any other state. Engineer did say that it is quite any easy process to have it certified providing all the mods are done correctly, he just requires photos of all mods he will then acknowledge whether the mods are correct or if there is any corrections to be made. Once the engineer is satisfied that the vehicle is ready for inspection my son needs to take The car to the engineer about 3 hour return trip from his home and all will be done, $800 for the service. Oh forgot to mention the engineer requires a small payment to look over the photos the payment comes of the final cost of the inspection if he is to proceed with the purchase of the car.

Not quite right, there are NSW Certified Engineers in other States, have a look at the end of this document. https://www.rms.nsw.gov....licensed-certifiers.pdf
