Is yours a white one? There used to be one getting around Canberra. From memory it had very wide stock wheels but I can't remember the flared guards. What I do remember is that it used to chirp the tyres when it changed gear.

Old thread resurrection.....

I just found info from mid 1972 showing forward planning for HJ. It shows the return to the HK style ID system where there were no longer 6cyl and V8 models. But the two interesting things were how HJ GTS350 and Chevrolet 350 were to be treated.

The GTS350 was to return to how the first GTS327 was treated, it was to be an option code on HJ GTS (same option code as GTS327 was to be ie XT2).

The really interesting car was the Chevrolet 350. In HQ it was option XU7 on 81469 (Deville). But it was to become its own model in HJ: 8WT69. I suspect all HQ Chevrolet 350 after the VIN tag changed late in 1972 may have 8T69 at the start of the VIN.

Interesting information . I have tags from July 1973 HQ Chevrolet 350 and it is 8T69 .After years of searching I still have not found any information as in , service bulletins or product information regarding the fitting of 350 into non Monaro/Statesman HQs . Thanks Mark.

You won’t as GMH never offered that engine outside coupe, Statesman or XW8 sedan.

I wonder how the 350 engine option was ordered in a model it was not an option for? It is also strange the 2 wagons in NZ with 350 , both painted the same colour but from different plants ? Thanks Mark.

Dealer contacted the zone office and got it through. There was a special instruction section on the dealer order form.

There were published price lists for everything Engineering deemed allowable even if it was not a regular option, so if something irregular was pushed through it could get through without much fuss and be priced accordingly. I only have these for HK though.
