this may sound a silly question but how does one check a salisbury diff is straight before i fit it my hq ute to me it seems one axle housing is 1/2 inch ahead of the other thanks

Clamp 2 straight pieces of metal, e.g. square tube, across the axle faces where the wheels bolt on. Then at equal distances for and aft of the axle centre line, about 300mm, measure like toe-in. You can rotate the axles 1/4 of a turn and check for up and

thanks casper i have it on a stand i made for checking and cleaning & painting it wasnt so dumb a question it reminds every to check a diff for straightness and bent axles before fit up cheers
