G'day Just asking was there a heavy duty engine mount bracket (one that bolts to the block) of 6 cylinder holdens, HQ -on? I have a pair that came off a very ordinary 6 cyl auto HQ sedan, that are 2 plates welded together. I have owned a few of these cars, worked on a heap, & wrecked a lot & haven't noticed any others the same. There is no additional mounts or bolts that you would expect as was on a/con. I have had these for ages & never worked out what they were for, so I'd thought I would ask around
Thanks Ian

I had a HQ Premier, factory air. It was mid 1990s when I pulled the 202 and threw a 350 at it. I don't remember any thing different in the engine mount department. |
Attn camry drivers. The accelerator is the skinny pedal on the right. |

OK, thanks. It's not really important, just something of interest that I had no answer to.

It might have been an ADR update. GM-H were doing a lot of crash testing & upgrading in those days.
My 1973 LJ Torana has unique engine mounts (the rubber bit) which have a much heftier captive link. They were introduced at the same time the front sheet metal changes, so must be crash related.
These are no longer available, but are interchangeable with the regular HQ-WB, LH-UC & VB-VK mounts.

Thanks Ian Yes GMH introduced the reinforced engine mount brackets in January 1973 HQ Holden & LJ Torana production. They were std on all 6cyl Holden & Torana from that point on. It was all part of ADR 10B compliance from 1/01/1973.

OK. Good info thanks. Not sure if it's the same as what I was asking about, I had a look at a LX torana, VB com & WB ute (all 6 cyls), + a box of eng mounts, and none have the same brackets. (as the ones im asking about). Will check some more next weekend
Thank you
