Hi, ive put my ute up for sale but am starting to wonder whether it could maybe be a sandman? Its a 4/1975 HJ L31, M21, GV4, 2 seats, 2200gvw, BHJ11456B chassis number, model-HJ8WN80, body-3471498, trim1886 64V, paint-568 15949 vin-8N80TEH347149J. Engine number is QT630266. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

You cannot tell from the tags with a HJ Kingswood ute. Being an Acacia Ridge body and not having the XX7 vehicle package code on the body tag I’d say no though.

The only way you can pick it for certain is by the body, but if it has been butchered or had original paint removed in certain areas you’ll never know.

What are they? Most things that make up a HJ Sandman ute were optional on any HJ ute. Almost all things that were unique to Sandman were easily added, examples the fluted guards and sports steering wheel.

I think it was the blackouts and black door handles that made people think. Im pretty sure now though that its just been made to look like a replica. Its on gumtree under hj ute (yellow one from 3 days ago) if youre interested in having a look

The black outs and black door handles on your ute are more Hx/Hz. I think you're right about it being made to look like a replica. That said a nicely optioned ute. Sandman or not very desirable combo
