Memories...Takes me back. Like HK says the torana had less front...1974 202 4 speed SL stock...No idea of the diff in it.Between Griffith and Hillston the needle was sitting on the H of the KPH on the bottom of the speedo...It was a standard SL dash with 160 on the clock ,so maybe was 170kph odd...I had a 3.3 4 speed SL UC 3.36 diff, a Pride Panther ski boat on the back with 5 in the car she clocked 130ks flat to the floor....I never tried it with just 1 in the car...It was a completely different car to drive compared to the LH , I guess the difference in diffs made them so different. I was a skinny runt back then, the cars sag when I get in them now...LOL.

Between them two the higher geared one was not a quick off the line, but once it got going it could hose off the lower geared one. Another mate had a UC Torana 3.3L 4speed and he claims 185KM/H I can't prove that it did, only his say so, if it did it must of had a 3.08 diff I would think.
I know that the 3.3L blue motors could do 185KM/H back in 1983 as I was in a new 3.3L auto WB Kingswood ute and that old builder was sitting on 185KM/H to get to the job in the next Town.
A mate with a stock VC 3.3L 4speed did 185KM/H and I was behind him in my 308 to prove it was true.
A 3.08 diff ratio would work out to around 4600RPM at 185KM/H.
A mates stock alloy head 4.1L 4speed 2.92 diff XD did 185KM/H flat out and his VB commodore 4.2L V8 4speed only did 185KM/H as well with a 3.08 diff. I'd say one VB was 2.78 the other 3.08? VB probably has a better CD than other 70's GMH stuff too. I seriously doubt a stock manual UC Torana would pull 185. If an LH SL/R tops out at 96mph a pollution strangled UC won't do any better. Both should be 3.08. |

Both should be 3.08. I drove the VB that did 160KM/H at times and it was not a 3.08 ratio for sure, 3.36 I would think. Old Mick that had the UC spins some crap at times, he truly claims he would be as tall as I if his legs where not so bowed and I am easy 4in taller than him. claims to be able to drink too, he is ok but I have seen him passed out many a time. I remember in 1983 a bloke had bought new Mazda RX7 it must of did 200KM/H I would say, as he passed me in my 253 Premier at 112mph and then he went and got all the Bathurst kit wings and guards and that knocked it's top speed down to about 185KM/H as he could not fly past the old Premier then. My 1993 XG Falcon ute did 210KM/H speed limited, 1994 on were 180KM/H limited. My 1995 VS V6 5speed ute 218KM/H as did my VS V6 auto sedan. My 1999 VS V8 wound off the clock, maybe 225 to 230KM/H MY 2003 VY SS manual 260KM/H but it was speed limited to 210KM/H originally and all I did was remove the limiter.

Been a long time Coming but time has come for the car to go to the trimmer. After speaking with the local trimmer he has just told me that this fabric is no longer available and is near impossible to find. Was hoping someone on here may be able to point me in the right direction or know of someone who may still has some fabric, would like to keep original fabric if possible. Trim code: 1934-18x (Black) Thanks in advance Cam

18X in an HZ Premier is Slate Black vinyl with Corniche cloth inserts.
1934 is GMH code for Atlantis Blue Metallic all over.
What is meant by a 491 4-sp HZ Premier ?

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

The question posed by johnmat is exact word for word to HK1837's question in the 2nd post of this thread save that the 308 is 491. A robot that converts cubic inch to metric and has rounded it down to 4.9 litre would be my guess??? Edited by user Tuesday, 17 November 2020 7:37:41 AM(UTC)

Just wanted to ad to this without hi-jacking original posters thread:
Early -mid 90s, I stripped out a HZ prem sedan 77 model from memory, it was chamois in colour, all over, 308/4speed. Power steer, after market air (with the arse out of the glovebox) & I think, a chunk out of console. Cloth seats, Woodgrain sports dash + bit on dash pad above glove box + console insert, but car only had drum brake rear end & standard wheels & prem hubcaps.
There must've been a few around, I'm sure I would have kept the tags, not sure if still in my possession, but if I find them I'll confirm details
