Went to garage sale today, picked up 2 hammers I am not sure what they are for. Both are like small tack hammer , one has a pointy head and a head with a flat face, the is a chisel head with a rounded face. I assume these profiles are there for a reason. Can anyone tell me what? I believe the pointy head and the chisel head are obvious but not flat face and rounded face? thanks

I am a self-taught and really bad panel beater but IIUC they go behind the piece of metal you are trying to shape. So put the curved face behind a curved piece of metal, then hit it on the other side to shape it. It transfers the force to the hit-point rather than spreading it over the whole piece of metal. Or this could be completely wrong!:)

Thanks 202. I thought you used an anvil to do that- a shaped piece steel block that you hammered against. But it appears no one else has ideas.. regards,
