They are both Kingswood. They are sales brochure vehicles, probably the worst source of facts! They are always pilots, touched up images etc. |

Yes, both Belmont & Kingwood had front guard badges, so the blue Kingwood on the hill is missing its badge.

Just don’t rely on brochure images. |

Yes, I agree with HK1837, brochure images are full of errors.
A friend of mine was looking at buying a VY Exec V8 wagon with 6-sp manual.
The brochure he had pictured exactly that model. He said to the dealer "I want to purchase this exact car". Dealer came back & told him you can't buy manual wagons in VY, unless you buy the limited edition SS version (@ $52,000 plus on roads).
The question was how could they photograph a variant that they don't produce ?

Every single real car image in the HQ Sandman sales brochure is not of a Sandman. The van with the tailgates open is an old-school photoshop of a bench seat image, the rest are images off something that probably wasn't even a commercial. The 253 engine image is pre 9/73. The reason is they hadn't built one yet. The prototypes were built in December 1972 and were both in colours no longer available by the time HQ Sandman was built, plus the van was dressed as a Kingswood. https://mycarquest.com/2...n-was-made-for-fun.html

The early HQs had a bright trim running along the sill below the doors from wheel arch to wheel arch. This was a thinner, about one inch wide trim as opposed to the wider moulding used on the prestige models. I may be able to have a pair made up. I have never seen one up close. Is there another trim with a similar profile that is readily available? The chance of finding OEM ute or wagon pieces is remote. Edited by user Wednesday, 23 June 2021 10:20:17 AM(UTC)

Every HQ Kingswood wagon and ute had that trim plus every Statesman. The trim will by many times over more common than the HQ Premier and Deville version. It was Stainless and never rusted. So there will be 1000’s of them out there, you just need to find a wreckers that has been around for over 10 years that hasn’t thrown them away. Try Classicozwreck in Lake Macquarie as a starting point. |

Thanks HK1837. I have been unsuccessful with the wreckers in WA. Will keep trying. Was the profile similar to anything else?

HQ Kingswood sedan and Monaro coupe, except they were shorter by a few inches as they both used the odd short wheelbase. The rest of HQ except cab chassis used the standard wheelbase. |
