As I was only 1 when the HJ came out, I can’t recall much about the introduction of the HJ. How was the new GTS/Sports/Full Instrumentation received? It was a massive change from the HQ.

From my memory (I was 21 at the time) it was very well received, arguably the best Holden instrument layout to date. What wasn't well received was the basic HJ Kingwood/Belmont dash with the strip speedo, it was awful. Dr Terry Edited by user Monday, 25 October 2021 5:19:03 PM(UTC)

If at first you don't succeed, just call it Version 1.0 |

When I get 5min I'll post a image of the original HQ update (HU or HV) sports dash. The gauge layout and look is all HJ but its in a HQ fascia. |

I remember when i saw my first HJ Monaro , a builder around the road from us had one , it seemed so cool ( GMNZ assembled had front and rear spoilers , honeycomb wheels and all were 308 TH400) compared to our family car ( 01 -74 253 Auto Kingswood wagon ) . I think HQ is nicer than HJ now! Thanks Mark . |
