Hi
Can anyone recognise the Vic Registration KFO305 which once hung from a GTS327?
The GTS327 was first registered 02/05/69 and was cancelled before 1981.
Chances are the chassis is a write off or chopped up for parts.
If the GTS327 still exists under the recorded chassis number from AOMC records, the
original block is available to the owner.
A preliminary stolen check with Vic Roads, REVS and PPSR has not been flagged as stolen.
A FOI has been applied for and more information will arrive later if it jogs your mind.

I think you will find the FOI won't tell you anything more than you already know.
Engine number, chassis number, colour, date of 1st registration and the selling dealer.

Also make sure the engine number is checked for theft with and without the Canadian engine plant code, and the chassis number is checked with and without the second M.
Lots of cars were re-registered at times and those numbers were left off. At one stage in NSW all you needed was a pink slip, green slip and the numbers were recorded by a girl at the RTA branch you went to. There were dozens of Commodores registered with the engine number 12784563, all at the same RTA branch - you can imagine the hassles when the first one was stolen!

When my Hk Panel van was registered recently with a 307 the date code was left off the engine no. and the M was left off too.

An FOI will disclose the selling dealer and colour. I have asked for any stolen history as well.
The AOMC disclosed the first date of registration as well as the engine re-registered in another vehicle
JNL331 and it replaced engine 161R5XXXX on 13.2.1981 which was registered up to year 2000.

Not sure if the guy at the desk tried so many variants but I did ask to drop the M's.
and try try the engine number without the date.
Records at Vic Roads are dating back to 1984 according to AOMC. I'm assuming the engine was registered in JNL331 and it replaced 161R5XXXX on 13.2.1981. up until 2000, so it should have shown up.
Note: Vic roads FOI are looking into both registrations numbers.

The fact the 327 ended up replacing a HR 161HC (probably in a HK-HG) is good news as it means it probably wasn't in a GTS327 and stolen. It was probably in a ute or van until 2000 but could have been any HK to HG that had a 161 in it.

FOI has been received with no flagged evidence of stolen for both the 327 block and registrations KFO305 JNL331.

The chance of finding the original HK chassis for this block is a long shot.

This block has damage which I don't know if it is recoverable. It requires someone with the knowledge to assess.
Not sure if it has been decked, but stamped numbers are very evident.
Yes it has been re-bored to my understanding.
Yes it has a lot of pitting.
Maybe someone can recommend a Melbourne based machinist who will look over all options.

Recoverable or non Recoverable where does this block belong?
feedback would be appreciated.

How do you apply for the FOI info. As I would like to know which dealer sold my car.
I have the AOMC report for my Victorian HT GTS Monaro already. So therefore I have the original 307 engine number & number plates as well.

You can get parts maybe from Phil in Melbourne Ph. 0415 134 689

Tell him Mark from Frankston told you. I do a lot of Rust Repairs for him.

Just a suggestion, get prices to do all 8 sleeves at one time on the block if it's already oversize. At least that way the block would be standard bore again and worth a lot of money. And you can bargain them down as it's in bulk and they don't have to set up the machines more than once. The actual sleeve is only a cylinder and is not so expensive.
