If you want info you'll have to ask here in a public forum. Not doing private help anymore after what has happened to someone else with private help given to an actual member of this forum. |

I can't rule them out as not being originally together, they are pretty close to the mark and if the VIN and BODY tags are on the shell with chassis number HG1297xS with untouched rivets then its a good chance they all belong together.
There are a few things you can see yourself. This is a later HG from Pagewood and thus the BODY number is a Pagewood HG series sequence number whereas eary HG used the model sequence number. The chassis number is also a pseudo HG series sequence number, but not put on until the end of the body plant process whereas the BODY number was assigned as part of scheduling. However they pretty much align as they count up, never really getting out of step by more than 100 or so numbers. So you can see immediately that 1298xS and HG1297xS are pretty close. The PSN (end of the VIN) fits pretty well with other cars at the time but you can never really tell for certain.
The NZ rego system appears to sometimes have had deliberate errors in it, no idea why numbers are often screwed up. That sequence is a mix of the first half of the VIN and the chassis number. |

Is this HG in Auckland? 😊
Sounds like abit of a barn find, having last had a WOF in 1997 but with rego on hold and it's original black number plate.
Be good to see it back on the road again 👍

Your secret is safe mate 😂
I managed to figure out the number plate, but have no way of tracking where the car is located or who owns it.
Also, I didnt reveal any of its details in my post. I'm not here to rain on anyone's parade 👍
