I have a red 202/3300 that I am preparing for a transplant into my HQ ute build. It has the later Bosch HEI distributor. It needs a new cap, which is hard to obtain at the moment. Would a red motor distributor cap fit on it and function correctly? It is easier and probably cheaper to source red motor distributor caps and leads. Are the rotor buttons interchangeable?

Good question. You can do it with the V8 one but have to use a Ford rotor button. Not sure about what rotor to use with a 6cyl if the cap fits.

Make sure you bridge the start and run wires at the ignition switch too so the HEI coil gets 12V all the time. I did it by pulling the ignition switch out and soldering a wire between the tabs right at the base so the plug goes back on. I have a photo of mine somewhere.

my Bosch catalogue says GB829... male terminal cap suits is a replacement for genuine BH116
and rotor is GB827

PLENTY of sellers on fleabay are selling those.. plus other places 'SPAREBOX" 'Supercheap' etc
also say they sell them

here is one -

Personally.. if you have a BURSONS store nearby, try them

Thanks for the tips and link, gentlemen. HK1837, I should have done this before I reassembled the column as it is a finicky job.
I bought the eBay item as Bursons are out of stock in the whole country.
