Wondering if anyone can help with my 350 chev identification Casting # 3970010 Engine # 113Z431211V01 then possibly 7 or 1 2CKD. Was told it was removed from a HQ holden in the late eighties but can't find any info as to if it was original or fitted later.

It isn't an original Holden or Statesman engine. It was originally an L48 engine (same spec as HT-HG 350 manual or any HQ 350) and looks to have originally been in a 1972, 1973 or 1974 automatic full size Chevrolet or a 1977 Corvette. So it was a 4BBL engine originally. It was cast in the Saginaw plant and assembled at the Van Slyk Road V8 engine plant in Flint, on most likely 12th November in 1971, 1972, 1973 or 1976. The partial VIN 113Z431211 will tell you exactly what vehicle built at what assembly plant and what year.

I just checked out the partial VIN. Not sure what the leading 1 means, but the next 1 means Chevrolet, the 3 means 1973, and the Z is the Fremont vehicle assembly plant. 431211 is the PSN.
