Now and then I get that squealing sound coming from my front brakes. only when you put foot on brake.
I had new calipers, disks and pads all rebuilt couple of years ago , I dont drive much but I hate the squeaky sound when put foot on the brake.
I saw some discs on ebay , the ones with the groves in them , would this fix the problem ?.
I remember 20 years ago someone told me to get a screwdriver and scratch crosses & lines in my discs and that would stop the squealing noise.. I think it did fix the problem a little . ( I don't want to do this )

doesnt the anti-squeal shims make the leading edge of the pad touch the brake disc first to stop the vibrations. we used this idea when i worked in a bicycle shop to the squeal.

Mate , go end grab yourself some high temp grease . pull pads out smear the grease on back of pad where piston touches and down the sides of the pads . You will see down the side of pads shiny marks this is causing the squeal. I do this about once a year

I thought the squeal was caused by the pad rubbing against the disc, how does the side of the pad get shiny marks ?
