When the motor is hot even after a 20 k run motor won’t kick over after being switched off covered the starter and solenoid with insulation as it’s close to the extractors still plays up has to be completely cooled down before it will start again is there anything else I can look at to fix this problem thanks in advance.

DON'T cover the starter/solenoid with any type of insulator.. all you are doing is retaining, keeping in the heat they get use a separate heat shield like the factory setup does to keep the exhaust heat from the starter |

When you say won't kick over, do you mean starter doesn't crank at all or starter cranks but motor doesn't start?
